Our Story

THE BEGINNING

A group of spirit filled believers began meeting together in the late 1920’s in Ajo, Arizona. They built a small frame building on the corner of Cameron & Wolsey streets in what was then desert. They were an unorganized group of Christians who had experienced the mighty baptism in the Holy Ghost. Many different preachers were invited to preach, some doctrines varied. In 1930-1931 Gordon Lindsey came to the small mining town to preach a revival meeting. Several people were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost and decided they would vote on whether to accept the doctrinal stand of the Assemblies of God organization and become an Assemblies of God church.

Expanding the vision...

With 53 voting members present, they voted to become affiliated with this organization. They voted Gordon Lindsey as their first pastor and affiliated with the Southern-California Arizona District of the Assemblies of God. Under Pastor Lindsey they became a stable group of Pentecostal believers who were properly grounded in scriptural pattern. His leadership and doctrinal stand was the primary reason why the church was to remain stable these 60 years.
